Not long ago, rational thought processes drew from long-held moral and societal principles and led to logical, common-sense conclusions that set the standard in our society. History provided a reservoir of sound precedents that were respected.
Today is different. Things no longer need to make sense. They are validated if they reflect the emotionally and power-driven opinions and values of America’s current and reprobate influencers. History, and certainly godly wisdom and morality, have nothing to do with it.
We have not only abandoned our former thought processes and their conclusions, we are openly contradicting them. It is as Isaiah wrote: “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Isaiah 5:20 niv
He preceded that with, “Woe to those who draw sin along with cords of deceit, and wickedness as with cart ropes” Isaiah 5:18 niv. Oh wow, can you see that happening?
“Woe,” a little word, is powerful because it declares a subsequent action by God. In our case the reprobate mindset has provoked His “giving us up” as in Rom. 1:18-32. https://biblia.com/bible/esv/romans/1/18-32
SCOTUS
I believe it is accurate to say that the mindset that increasingly shapes America results from a series of decisions by the Supreme Court Of The United States. (SCOTUS) Can you rebut this sequence even if you don’t see it as cause and effect?
It started with taking prayer out of schools (1962-63), which was soon followed by the release of the spores of the anti-authority spirit of feminism.
That movement was never about equality. Its anti-authority spirit was supposedly about the responsibility/authority of men in society but was actually a rejection of God’s authority. It declared man superior to God in establishing norms for society.
I saw feminism’s spirit evolve on university campuses in the anti-Vietnam-war movement and more, and it profoundly and negatively impacted our nation. Many in the church that I was part of even joined the movement and abandoned a historically Christ-centered spirituality.
