AT PLAY
I recently watched a 3-year-old at play with friends. He seemed oblivious to his father’s voice even though it was loud enough for one who had ears to hear. You know where this is going.
FALSE SECURITY
We American Christians are at play too and many are oblivious to our Father’s voice. They are resting in the imagined security of our historic but deteriorating moral foundations and the democracy and court systems that had supported them. And some are disarmed by believing in a God of grace without judgment.
They can’t hear Him about the impact that current world events will soon have upon us. And they are deaf to the Parable of the Ten Virgins (Mt. 25:1-13); to Jesus’ clear “Therefore be on the alert” in Mt. 24:42-51, and much more that He said along those lines.
READ HIS WORDS!
Read the Mt. 13:3-23 Parable of the Sower and note “he who has ears” in v9. The soil of many cannot receive the seed of warning that could grow into a life-saving tree of truth and safety for them and those they love.
They choose to ignore Jesus’ “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches” in Rev. 2:7, 2:17, 2:29, 3:6, 3:13 and 3:32. Read Rev. 2:1 – 3:22 and listen for His voice. Which of the seven churches best represents your faith community?
And consider His words in Rev. 22:7, “And behold, I am coming quickly. Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.” nasb
OUR FATHER’S VOICE
My fellow-Christians, we’re in trouble and yet we act like children playing in the street, ignoring our Father’s warning that a semi is coming. We hear nothing. As the little boy, we have chosen to tune Him out.
He said it would be so in these Last Days – – but you? Jesus is always ready to hear our cry for help and we can help each other. Next time!
