SOMETHING BETTER, 4
THE BODY OF CHRIST
The Church is “The Body of Christ” that Jesus established and which He indwells by His Spirit. It represents the presence and purposes of the Father today, as He did 2000 years ago.
The Church is relationally-based, purpose-driven and spirit in nature. It is without walls and is present everywhere a follower of Jesus goes. It does not depend on buildings, program, budgets, management systems or staff. It has one Leader and His Name is JESUS.
We all have mental images of “Jesus of Nazareth,” but do we see the reality that He is now present in His Body, the Church?
THE WORD (niv)
Eph. 1:22-23 – – and made Him head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
Col. 1:18 – He is also the head of the body, the church;
Col. 1:24 – – in my flesh I do my share on behalf of His body, which is the church,
Does the life and testimony of today’s church confirm that we accept the truth that we are the body of Christ that is carrying on the work He began?
MORE POINTEDLY
How are we doing at facilitating Jesus’ ongoing work through us? Does His Presence in us actively build others up in the faith; impact society as salt and light; and take the Gospel to our Jerusalem and to the remotest part of the earth?
Do we need to reconsider what it means to be the Church? Is there a problem with our sense of being the Body of Christ? Is there something better for us?
More to come!
