As previously stated, I strongly support Donald J. Trump as our president and believe that his leadership and policies are what America needs, but my interest there is secondary to my concern for the Church.
Trump is the most influential person in the world even before his January 20 inauguration. There is something surreal about that and some are celebrating as though we Conservatives finally hold the Ace of Spades.
THE ACE OF SPADES
The Ace of Spades is often the most powerful card in the deck – the Trump Card. So fitting, but someone else actually holds the Trump Card in our world. Consider Acts 17:26-27:
“and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation, 27 that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us;” (NASB 1995)
Aah yes, “The God who made the world and all things in it, the Lord of heaven and earth” (v24), holds the winning card. He has the first and last word about everything and uses his power to accomplish His eternal purpose of v27. President Donald J. Trump, whom I esteem highly, is merely a tool in God’s hand and one through whom the Father’s purposes will be accomplished.
THAT, is what THIS is about.
That purpose was behind the founding of the United States and the God-imparted Biblical and moral principles that made us strong. All that made America great, including freedom of religion, was the direct result of God’s initiative and was for His purposes – and so is everything that is happening in every sphere of our world today. It is ALL, to draw our eyes and hearts toward Him as He moves us further into the events of the Last Days.
In Luke 21:28 Jesus said that when these things begin to take place we should stand up, and look up, because our redemption is drawing near. Well, they are beginning to take place, so where are we looking? We have the opportunity to be part of what God is doing but we can also choose to snooze – and to lose.
