Here are some keys to the life of those heroes of faith.
First was their view of God. They believed that He could and would do what He said He would do. Period! Their faith was rooted in the character and power of God Himself, and it led to obedience. How about us?
Secondly, they trusted that His way was best regardless of what it meant for them. They embraced the truth of Rom. 8:28, that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. It was all about Him!
It is faith to submit our desires, even our rights to Him, trusting Him for the outcome according to His sovereign knowledge and will. Such saints will obey without knowing the “why.” How about us?
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Heb. 11:6 niv
Remember, God-pleasing faith leads to action. To surrender and obedience, and to becoming His bondslaves.
Is He pleased with us?
And thirdly, they lived with a perspective of eternity; that our few short years on earth are preparation for Life in God’s Presence in heaven forever. They wanted to be faithful to God and serve His purposes here, regardless of the cost, as they awaited their real home. They lived for “that” not for “this.” How about us?
“- – they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.” Heb. 11:16 niv Do we qualify for that “therefore”?
Do we have some serious stuff to talk with Jesus about? He will speak but we must listen.
