GOD IS. . .
God is all about being God. And He is all about having a “people” who are His special people among all the peoples of the earth.
He wants to mark His people with His Presence. His glory. His supremacy over Satan. He wants to make life good for them – – to free them from Satan’s bondage and give them hope and rest, but His ways and their ways are very different and only His way will work. That’s a problem for several reasons. (Next time)
I AM, I WILL
Count “I Am” and “I will” in this text! “Therefore, say to the Israelites: ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. 7 I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. 8 And I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. I will give it to you as a possession. I am the Lord.’” Moses reported this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him because of their discouragement and harsh labor.” Exodus 6:6-9 niv
This God of “I Am” and “I will” had previously said, “So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey—the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites.” Exodus 3:8 niv
Incredible, but Heb. 3:18-19 says, “And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest if not to those who disobeyed? 19 So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief.” niv
TODAY?
What keeps us from entering fully into the abundant life of freedom, righteousness, peace, joy and more that Jesus won for us? And what blocks the rivers of living water from flowing through us to others? More to come!
